Payments (First Gen 2.0)


Paying or “Tendering” a check

  • Choose the “$ Payment” bar at the bottom of the screen to pay and close a check.  
    • Select the appropriate tender type for payment such as cash, gift card, or credit card.
    • If the customer pays with cash, choose the “Cash” button and enter applicable tip and/or the tendered amount(s). Choose “Apply Payment.”  
    • Tendering the total amount due closes the check, posts that check to the Qu cloud, and creates a new check.

Swiping a credit, debit or gift card automatically displays the “$ Payment” screen. 


Multiple Tenders 

  • Adding multiple payment tenders to a check (See Figure 14) 
    • On the “$ Payments” screen, press the “+” widget until you reach the number of desired payments. The check totals will automatically divide equally by the number of payments.  
      • If one or more guests wish to pay a different amount than an equal share, just touch into on the total box and enter the desired amount. The other payments will automatically adjust.  
      • You may split check payments by any number of increments and by multiple methods

Manual Credit Card 

  • Manual Credit Card (Manual just means a non swiped transaction) 
    • Choose “Credit” 
    • Choose “Enter Card Data” 
    • Enter the prompted information  
Ensure the Expiration Date is entered as MMYY 
    • Choose “Authorize $X.XX”

Refund & Return Process 

  • Qu Refund Process  
    • Retrieve the order– Find the check using search by date, ticket number and/or amount.

The more criteria entered into search the faster the search returns 


    • Select the ticket you want to refund and select “Reopen” 
    • After reopening the check, click the “Payment” button at the bottom of the screen 
    • Choose “Refund Payment” from the payment screen.   This will refund the payment.

    • Once you have refunded the payment, you may: 

Add Additional Items 

Add items until the order is complete. Click the “Payment” banner at the bottom of the screen. 

  • Retender the check to close. 


Void a single item on the check: 

  • Select the item to void  
  • Either 
    • Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to reveal the lower menu and select “Remove Items” or 
    • Gesture on the item to void from right to left

  • The item will remain visible on the check but it will now show as “voided” in red font and will not be included in the outstanding check total. 
  • Retender the check to close. 


Void ALL items on the check: 

  • Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to reveal the lower menu and select “Void/Remove All Items”

If the warning message “Void: You may not void items after payment has been tendered” appears, you have not refunded the payment and must first do so in order to void an item(s). 


Return Item (Option 2) 

This method 2 is a slightly easier process as it does not require reopening a check. 

  • Select the item that is being returned from the menu 
  • Swipe down from the top of the screen to reveal the lower menu bar

  • Select Return Item (The item should now be highlighted in yellow) 
  • Select the $ Payment 
  • Select the type of refund that should be applied (i.e. cash or credit refund) 
  • Click Apply Refund, OK, and Close. 

Reprint Last Check 

Older checks can be searched for on the app and reprinted if necessary. However, if the last check needs to be printed it can be completed in two easy steps. To reprint the last check: 

  • Touch the bar at the top of the screen 
  • Touch Reprint Last Check

Tax Exemption 

There are several customers that have tax exemption on certain purchases. To remove the tax from a check for a tax exempt customer (This has to be configured in EI for the tax, to be used on the POS): 

  • Touch on the bottom bar and touch tax exempt. 
  • Touch the check box next to tax exempt 
  • Enter the customers tax exempt id in the Reference text box 
  • Click confirm. You should now notice that the tax is no longer calculated on the current check.

Note that Tax Exemption is only calculated on the current check. If two customers require tax exemption, the above steps will need to be completed for each check. 


Offline Credit 

There are some instances where the POS loses connection to the credit card processor but does not automatically go offline to allow offline credit card processing. In the event that this happens, there is a button that allows the cashier to manually force the app to go offline. 

  • Touch the top bar 
  • Touch More 
  • The Manual Offline Credit button should show Disengaged.  
  • Touch the button to change Manual Offline Credit to engaged 
    • You should get the below message

Keep in mind that online credit card processing will not be reactivated automatically.   Reactivate card processing once the network connection is restored.
